The best (and free) point crawl tool — Point Crawl Maker
Map your world,
run better sessions.
Point Crawl Maker is the free visual tool for tabletop GMs. Build a point crawl, annotate your locations and paths, and prepare your sessions faster.
What is a point crawl?
A point crawl is a simple, flexible way to map a game world as a network of locations connected by paths — rather than a rigid hex or square grid. Each location is a node with its own notes, descriptions and atmosphere. Players travel between nodes, and the GM controls what they discover along the way. It's fast to prepare, easy to run, and works for any genre.
Here are 3 of my favorite videos on the subject:
See it in action
Intuitive canvas
Drag, drop and connect your locations on a smooth infinite canvas. Pan, zoom, and always keep an overview of your world.
Rich notes per location
Each point and path holds a label, a Markdown description and an illustration. All your GM notes, exactly where you need them.
Annotated paths
Label the roads, rivers and passes between your locations. A hovered path reveals its name — invisible to players until the right moment.
Grid snap
Enable the magnet mode to snap locations to a hidden grid. Keep your map clean and readable at a glance.
Build on desktop, read on mobile
Prepare your session at your own pace on a big screen. When game night arrives, just pull out your phone — Point Crawl Maker is designed to be just as comfortable to read at the table as it is to build on a PC.
The GM's workshop
A full-screen canvas to drag, drop and connect your locations. Rich Markdown notes, images, annotated paths — everything you need to craft a great session.
Ready at the table
Your point crawl loads instantly in any mobile browser. Tap a node, read your notes, reveal a path name — no app to install, no account needed for your players.
Who's behind this?
My name is Baptiste. I've been a GM for 4 years, running Pathfinder and D&D 3.5 campaigns. I love building worlds and crafting sessions — but I got tired of juggling scattered Google Docs, random text files and improvised maps.
Point Crawl Maker started as a personal tool to fix my own prep workflow. I built it the way I wished it had existed: fast, focused, and actually pleasant to use at the table. If it helps other GMs run better sessions, that's all I was hoping for.
